Catalyte joins BLocal initiative to build a better Baltimore

BLocal - Business partnering for Baltimore

Put our talent to work

Catalyte advances human potential. We do this by finding undiscovered talent in our local communities and giving them the opportunity for a career in software development. Working in close proximity with our clients, we also create a circular, hyperlocal economy where businesses and employees together build better communities.

It’s in this spirit that we’ve joined BLocal. Celebrating its first anniversary, BLocal is a commitment by Baltimore-area businesses to leverage their collective influence to help strengthen the city and create opportunities for Baltimoreans.

Our commitments to BLocal mirror what we do best: create opportunities for local software developers and help businesses transform their IT operations. As part of the initiative, Catalyte commits to:

Build

  • Remain headquartered in Baltimore City and, upon expansion, will do so within city limits.

Hire

  • Increase the percentage of new hires from Baltimore City from 33 percent to 40 percent over the next three years (April 2017 to April 2020). Catalyte expects to hire about 150 people in this time frame, so approximately 60 people will be from Baltimore City.
  • Partner with BLocal member organizations to execute a program to close the IT talent gap with an emphasis on sourcing candidates from Baltimore City.

Buy

  • Provide subsidized software development and/or consulting resources for projects that will help BLocal member organizations achieve their program commitments and improve overall program results, or that have a direct impact and benefit for the Baltimore City community.

In the coming months and years, we’ll work closely with Johns Hopkins and our fellow BLocal members to fulfill the promise of Baltimore and create a city that offers equal opportunity for all. This is just the beginning.
