About Us

Who we are

Catalyte believes that aptitude is equally distributed, but opportunity is not. We find hidden technology talent others can’t. The company provides new opportunities for sustainable and diverse tech talent that powers transformational software engineering ‒ when, where and how it’s needed – and accelerates business outcomes.

Even the most forward-looking companies struggle to find and keep the exceptional technology talent needed to maintain a competitive edge. With our proprietary Odyssey workforce development platform we find, develop and support a new talent pool of great software engineers, narrowing the talent gap for Fortune 1000 companies.

This proven ability to transform individuals, communities and companies has caught the attention of the New York Times, CNN, 60 Minutes, McKinsey and many others.

With development centers in Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Phoenix-Scottsdale and Portland, Ore., Catalyte creates local, cost-effective, predictable, diverse and sustainable technology workforces to help companies meet their technology objectives today and into the future.

Our history

Eliminating hiring bias to deliver high-performing software engineers

Catalyte founder Michael Rosenbaum was a Harvard economics and law fellow. As an advisor in the Clinton White House, he proposed the theory that underserved urban populations contain just as many people with talent to succeed in the emerging field of software development as any other. They are just overlooked by a system that values pedigree rather than innate ability.

To prove this point, Michael built a big data engine that removes biases from hiring and objectively selects candidates who have the potential to become great software engineers. With 20 years of data proving that great software developers can come from anywhere, Catalyte continues to create local, cost-effective, predictable, diverse and sustainable technology workforces aligned with customers’ software development and business priorities.

Jacob is a man of two passions: his work and his family. A dedicated father of four, he works to make the world a better place for all families. This begins with reawakening the American dream that anyone from any background can succeed. His time leading Catalyte is dedicated to making this a reality and making the company a catalyst for a lifelong journey of personal, community and client improvement.

Prior to joining Catalyte, Jacob was chief executive officer at Symbio, a global IT services company. Jacob was also chief executive officer of Trilogica and chief executive officer of Epitome, and began his career in investment banking. He was selected to be a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and was named as one of the world’s Top 12 CEOs by Chief Executive Magazine.

Glenn Luk

Chief Financial Officer

Glenn believes that the full power of technology can only be unlocked if you address the disruption that it causes. He is inspired by the compounding effect Catalyte has had on so many lives. Growing up in New Jersey, he was a Nets fan long before they moved to Brooklyn.

With degrees in computer science engineering and economics from the University of Pennsylvania, Glenn brings a holistic understanding of the tech industry to his role at Catalyte. An executive, entrepreneur and tech investor for two decades, he was a partner at Investcorp Technology Partners and has served on the boards of several public and private companies in the software, telecom and security sectors, and also helped cofound HealthCare.com, an online consumer health insurance platform.

Greg Sybersma

Chief Strategy Officer - Apprentices

x

Greg holds fast that the workforce of the future will be the strongest when comprised of individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and educational experiences. An impatient changemaker, he believes that artificial intelligence can be mobilized to accelerate progress, a mission shared by Catalyte. When not exploring the Canadian Rockies with this wife and two dogs, Greg enjoys applying his engineering background to weekend projects.

For over 15 years, Greg has led numerous technology, consulting and software organizations like Deltek, Blackboard, BearingPoint and others. This, combined with his executive experience in both the enterprise and start-up space, will help Catalyte capitalize on increased revenue opportunities for both its talent transformation platform and engineering services offerings.

Marsha Malone

Chief Strategy Officer, Digital Services - Public Sector

x

Marsha stands on the shoulders of many exceptional African Americans who “made a way out of no way.” She uses her position to create a more representative tech industry and provide opportunities for people eager to improve their lives. Marsha studies the world through a camera lens and explores it 18 holes at a time, hitting the links with her husband.

Marsha brings deep IT leadership experience in commercial and government contracting to expand the federal, state and local markets for Catalyte. She was vice president of federal sales at WebEx, led successful federal contract bids at Lockheed Martin worth over $565M and brought new IT services to multiple federal law enforcement agencies. Marsha also received the 2014 Black Engineer of the Year Awards for Technical Sales and Marketing.

Marque Chambliss

Chief Legal Officer

x

Marque is dedicated to dismantling structural inequities that systematically deny too many people the opportunity to develop their full potential. A native of Washington, D.C., he enjoys all the outdoor recreational activities the Eastern Shore has to offer. He’s also found in the kitchen preparing meals his twin boys rate as, “better than restaurant food.”

Marque joins Catalyte with over 30 years of experience in the tech industry. He was most recently a director of legal at Cloudera and has previously worked at Cisco, Sun Microsystems and Seiko Epson. A graduate of Harvard College with a law degree from University of California, Berkeley, Marque brings extensive experience in technology licensing, intellectual property, artificial intelligence, contract negotiations and deployment arrangements to Catalyte.

Eliot has served as vice president of technical development at Catalyte. Prior to joining the company, he was a principal software engineer and architect at AOL, Oath and Verizon Media. He was named as one of Baltimore’s most influential technologists in 2019 and is a former board member for Code in the Schools.

Mindy Fahnestock

Chief Technology Officer

x

Mindy has built a career through curiosity, tenacity and support from mentors and managers along the way. She’s adamant about paying this forward and paving pathways for everyone to succeed and thrive in their technical careers. An avid animal lover, you’ll often find Mindy hiking the Texas hill country with her husband and their dogs.

Mindy was previously vice president of product engineering at Catalyte. She brings nearly 30 years of engineering and data expertise to her current role. Her data and engineering background will help guide the direction of Catalyte’s platforms, including its Odyssey platform.

Michele Cunningham

Chief Marketing Officer

x

For Michele, the key to success in a technology-driven world lies in the ability to cultivate those traits that make us most human, while automating the elements that support convenience and productivity. This is done best with diverse teams that value curiosity and continuous learning. Join her for long hiking / brainstorming sessions along the NCR Trail before refueling on her awesome chocolate chip cookies.

Michele has led marketing at early-stage and multi-national organizations, undertaking digital transformation over the course of her career. She has worked in business services and commercial leasing, as well as learning management and advanced analytics technology companies. She also founded a marketing consultancy.
